The Gods must be Crazy (Film) Review This is one of the most crazy film doing justice to the title. Jamei Uys has nicely scripted the story which is full of hilarity. The character of Xi who is a bushman is nicely played. The best shot of the film is when the coca-cola bottle falls and Xi (N!xau) looks at it for the first time. The expressions and the comic acts which he does are really hilarious. The comic romance between Andrew Steyn (Marius Weyers) a scientist who is studying the local animals and the newly hired village school teacher who was a former newspaper reporter named Kate Thompson (Sandra Prinsloo) adds to the comic moments in the film. The release of this film was also different from the normal releases. Initially this film was thought to be a failure and thus was only releases in South Africa in 1980, but the response from the box-office made Jensen Farley Pictures to release the limited edition in 1982. The tremendrous response from the box-office inspired
20th Century Fox to release this film worldwide on the most in-auspicious date Friday the 13 day of July 1984.
