Samsung Galaxy S II i9100 is a stylishly designed and a very light weight cell phone from Samsung electronics, one of the top leaders in manufacture of electronic goods and has a varied experience in the manufacture of mobile phones in India. Samsung Galaxy S II i9100 is a new smart phone from Samsung released in India in the month of May 2011. The phone is reasonably priced around Rs.26000 with 16 GB memory and Rs.30,500 with 32 GB memory. The bargaining to get it at around this price will be a good buy. Galaxy S II i9100 comes with both Network 2G - GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 and Network 3G - HSDPA 850 / 900 / 1900 / 2100 (3G- HSDPA, 21 Mbps HSUPA, 5.76 Mbps).
Samsung Galaxy S II i9100 phone has super AMOLED plus Gorilla Glass protected display of 10.92 cm (4.3 inches) (400 x 800 pixles) with high contrast ratio. The new technology consumes 18% less energy that the previous display. So this is one of the thinnest, long lasting smart phones available in this category. The phone has a dual core application processor that provides high speed multi tasking, quick loading of web pages. It enables quick reaction speeds, a smoother UI. The image editing of the phone performs highly in gaming performance. The super fast wireless standard HSPA 21 Mpbs gives a big boost to seamless video and audio streaming.
Samsung Galaxy S II i9100 is designed for great value with customer needs in mind. Its 8.49mm slim design has a leading edge making it an ultra slim phone in its category. The design is just luxurious with an easy grip. Galaxy S II also features HyperSkin that gives it a premium metal look with fingerprint free and non slip battery cover. The phone comes with powerful multimedia performance enabling 1080p HD video recording and playback with instant access to music. The user can execute major functions like calling, music, and messaging, scheduling and launching apps with the ease of a voice command. The readers’ hub of the smart phone is a complete library by itself. The user can set up 2,500 magazines in 20 languages and 1,600 of newspapers in 47 languages. There is an 8 MP camera with LED flash in Samsung Galaxy S II. This is the first Astroid smart phone to run with powerful encrypted hardware ensuring high degree of security. The VPN (Virtual Private Network) of Samsung Galaxy makes it a networking device.
Samsung Galaxy S II i9100 compared with iPhone 4
Samsung Galaxy S II i9100 smart phone has more advanced features than iPhone 4. The iPhone 4 was released a year ago in other countries and is recently released in India. The Samsung Galaxy S II was announced in February at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona but is made available in India only in May 2011. So, Galaxy S II comes with superior hardware as compared to iphone 4. When we compare the advantages of Galaxy S II 1Ghz Dual core ARM cortex A9 Exynos processor, iPhone 4 has a single core cortex A8 processor. It comes with Mali 400 GPU which is better than iPhones SGX 535. The mobile phone has 4.3 inch super AMOLED display which is better than iPhones retina display of 3.5 inch in terms of contrast and size. The cell phone’s 8 megapixels camera is superior to iPhones 5 megapixels. It also has better front facing camera and records 1080p videos. Samsung Galaxy has 1 GB RAM instead of 512 MB in some other phones of the same type. Galaxy S II, although bigger than the iPhone, is considerable lighter weighing only 116 g compared to iPhone 4 and some other phones which weigh 135g. The iPhone has a worldwide known issue wherein it had serious signal reception problems and dropped calls frequently when held in a certain manner (called the "death grip"). It is not known to me whether these problems have been solved. The buyers may please check on that. Galaxy S II has a lot of other features which are not found in the iPhone 4, such as Adobe Flash, Bluetooth 3.0 (iPhone has bluetooth 2.1, without file transfers out of the box), F.M. Radio with RDS, faster 3G and Wifi, etc. Galaxy S II runs on Android instead of iOS, which I find better. It supports full multitasking, bluetooth file transfers and drag-and-drop file management, uncertified 3rd party softwares and more customizability.
The iPhone 4s only saving grace when compared to Galaxy S II is iOS and the App Store instead of Android and the Android Market in Galaxy S II. This isnt a great advantage but just a difference in features. The iOS has better 3D games such as Infinity Blade, but Android is also catching up in this facility and is competing fast with other cameras in the same category. iOS is also easier to handle and has better looking and smoother menus due to native hardware acceleration. Other than that, the iPhone 4 is yesterdays technology while Galaxy S II is todays star with performance and innovation of Samsung technology. The iPhone 4s indian launch was very late. The iPhone 5 which may prove to be better match for Galaxy S II i9100 but one has to wait for a few months more for that to come in the market.
