Maruti the most reputed car company and XUV 500 the most reputed car ranked by Bluebytes
This article deals with news of ranking of car companies and car brands according to their reputation by Bluebytes, a leading news research agency. Bluebytes researched 200 different brands of cars in India based on the 75,000 news articles about auto sector published between October 2011 and March 2012. Bluebytes ranked Maruti Suzuki as the most reputed auto company followed by Mahindra Auto. XUV 500 from Mahindra was ranked the most reputed among car brands followed by Tata Nano.

Introduction
In India there are about two dozen car manufacturers bringing into the market their cars of different sizes, features, specifications and costs. The cars range from the low cost Nano by Tata to the costliest luxury car Maybach by Mercedes Benz. Maruti Suzuki has remained the leader of car sales in India from the time it entered the auto market in India. The cost of the cars ranges from about Rs.1.43 lakh for Nano to Rs.5.5 crores for Maybach. Cost factor of the cars is a very important consideration with the Indian buyers of cars. While Nano has been sold in thousands, the sale of Maybach is perhaps in single digit so far. There are several car companies manufacturing small and medium sized cars in India with their cars seen on almost every Indian road. However, there are others like Mercedes, BMW, Audi, Bentley and Rolls Royce that sell super luxury cars which are very rarely seen on the Indian roads. Even the car Aston Martin which became popular in James Bond movie Goldfinger has also come to India. The luxury car Aston Martin costs around Rs.3 crore.
Maruti Suzuki ranked as the most reputed car company by Bluebytes
Indian buyers of cars look for various reports and reviews of cars whenever they want to buy new cars. They take into consideration the brand of the company that manufactures the cars since this factor quite considerably adds to the resale value of the car. I give below the excerpts of a report published in the newspapers on April 5, 2012 about the ranking of 19 car companies in India by Bluebytes. The Bluebytes is a reputed news research agency. Bluebytes ranked Maruti Suzuki as India's most reputed car company of all the 19 car companies it ranked. We already know Maruti Suzuki as the leader in auto sales. Mahindra & Mahindra was ranked second most reputed car company. However, the research gave a surprising fact that the difference in the two firms' ranking was as high as 19 per cent. This gave a substantial lead to Maruti Suzuki. The company ranked third in the list of reputed car companies was the indigenous car manufacturer Tata Motors. The other auto companies ranked in the descending order of their reputation according to Blubytes are Hyundai, Audi, Mercedes, Skoda, Ford, BMW, Honda, Renault, Volkswagen, Toyota, Nissan, Fiat, Chevrolet, Jaguar, porche and Ferrari. Quite interestingly, Audi is at the top in the category of the companies manufacturing super luxury cars in India. "Reputation is defined as transmitted feelings of respect and news is one such critical transmitter," said Piyush Jain, business head of Bluebytes. Bluebytes has analysed over 75,000 articles about auto sector that were written between October 2011 to March 2012.
XUV 500 ranked as the most reputed car brand by Bluebytes
As the car manufacturing companies were ranked according to their reputation, a similar ranking was decided for the cars manufactured by these companies. Bluebytes made a research of about 200 different car brands for this purpose. XUV500, the latest launch from Mahindra & Mahindra secured the top honour. Tata Nano was ranked as the second most reputed car brand in India. However, the difference in percentage of reputation between the first two brands was as high as 74%. This gave Mahindra's XUV 500 is a huge lead over Tata Nano. Maruti Swift Dzire was ranked third among the most reputed car brands in India. The other reputed cars in their descending order were Scorpio by Mahindra Auto, R8 by Audi, Ertiga by Maruti, Fiesta by Ford, i20 by Hyundai, Alto by Maruti, Omni by Maruti, Q3 by Audi, A6 by Audi, Xylo by Mahindra Auto, Q5 by Audi, Q 7 by Audi, A4 by Audi, Endeavour by Ford, Brio by Honda, Koleos by Renault, Wagon R by Maruti, 800 by Maruti, SX4 by Maruti, i10 by Hyudai, Micra by Nissan, Mini by BMW, Bolero by Mahindra Auto, Reva by Mahindra Auto, 3 series by BMW, 911 by Porsche and 7 series by BMW.
Conclusion
It is interesting to note from the ranking of cars by Bluebytes, that Maruti, Mahindra and Audi dominate the list as far as branding of the cars according to their reputation is concerned. The names of the brands which are conspicuously missing among the top 30 brands of cars in India are the cars manufactured by Mercedes, Skoda, Volkswagen, Toyota, Fiat, Chevrolet, Jaguar and Ferrari.
