Does Tata’s New Vista compares well with Maruti’s New Swift?

Why one needs to compare features and price of costly products like cars

When a customer wants to buy a new car, he or she is obviously faced with the dilemma as to which car has the better features than the other car. The problem is aggravated with a lot of new entries of vehicles in the market now and then and each company claiming theirs to be the best in the market. In a competitive market, the customers are lured to buy a particular company's product mainly through advertisements. So the customers are advised to go through the various car reviews on the TV channels, newspapers and internet to find out and judge the best selection for them. It is all the more important that the decision in this respect should not be taken hastily since the cost of the products in question will be quite high and one only has to repent after taking a wrong and hasty decision. Once someone has selected and bought a car, whether the decision is wrong or right, one has to bear with the product until one decides to replace the product which cannot be done without losing a lot of money or passing a number of years with the product one has selected and bought. Therefore it is advisable to compare and contrast the features and price of at least two vehicles between which one has to make a choice to buy.

Tata's New Vista vs. Maruti's New Swift

Performance: Engine, power and torque.

As far as performance of the two vehicles Tata's New Vista and Maruti's New Swift is concerned, the engine technology of both the vehicles is the same. Both the cars have 1248 cc, 4 cylinders, and Common Rain Direct Injection (CRDI) engine. Both have the same maximum power of 75 PS and the torque of 190 Nm. These features are very important for any buyer to judge the selection. These being the same, we shall proceed to some other features of these cars.

Fuel Efficiency and Price of New Vista and New Swift

The next most important features to be observed are the fuel efficiency and the market price of the cars keeping in view the high costs of petrol and diesel in the market. The ever increasing prices of the fuel in the market are a constant worry for the users of the vehicles. There is a very slight difference in mileage of the two cars in discussion. The fuel economy of New Vista from Tata is 22.3 kmpl and New Swift of Maruti is 22.9 kmpl. Maruti Swift has a slight advantage here but this advantage can be overtaken when one compares the prices of the two vehicles. Maruti Swift costs about Rs.20000- Rs.22000 more to the buyer. The price of Tata's new Vista is around Rs.5.51 lakhs and that of Maruti's new Swift is around Rs.5.73 lakhs. These prices are ex-showrooms at Hyderabad which may slightly vary in other cities.

Physical dimensions and space provided in New Vista and New Swift

There is slight difference in the length of the two cars. New Vista is 3795 mm in its length whereas the length of New Swift is little more, i.e. 3850 mm. Both the cars are of the same width of 1695 mm. Tata Vista is about 20 mm higher than the New Swift. Their heights are 1550 mm and 1530 respectively. The rear leg room is more in Tata Vista being 7200 – 9200 mm than in New Swift which has a leg room of 6400 – 8800 mm. Once again the Tata Vista has the rear seat width of 1370 mm as against Maruti New Swift's 1260 mm. The boot space is also more in Tata Vista at 232 litres than the Maruti Swift at 204 litres. So, the Tata Vista has got an advantage over the Maruti Swift as far as the legroom and boot space are concerned.

Interiors of Tata Vista and Maruti Swift

Tata Vista's interiors have left no comparison to be made in this respect. The Black and Sahara Beige Spacious interiors, soft finish, dual tone dashboard and 60:40 flip fold rear seat compare better than the Maruti Swift. But the Maruti lovers will have their choice to select between the two after careful observation of the interiors.

Some other features of the Tata Vista and Maruti Swift

Tata Vista comes with Antilock Braking System (ABS) which is not available in the Maruti Swift. There is an integrated music system with Aux-in and USB port which is not provided in Maruti Swift. Blue5 in Tata Vista can connect up to 5 mobile phones and this facility does not exist in Maruti Swift. In the Tata Vista, the audio controls are mounted on the Steering whereas it is not so in Maruti Swift. The other features present in Tata Vista but not available in Maruti Swift are intelligent rear wiper and height adjustable driver seat with lumbar support. On the other hand Maruti Swift comes with ORVM mounted side turn indicator which is not available in the Tata New Vista.
