This articles deals with the announcement of the release of Royal Enfield Classic Chrome 500 bike in India. Royal Enfield which became famous with its product Bullet 350 in the fifties and sixties in trying to revive its position in the Indian market with the announcement of Classic Chrome 500. It is also likely release bikes bowered with 750 cc and 1000 cc engines very soon. Power bike lovers will surely be enthuses by these corporate news.
Royal Enfield was a name to reckon with in the bike industry in the past
Royal Infield 350 cc Bullet was a name to be reckoned with in India four to five decades ago along with Java 250 cc in less powered category when none of the bike lover had heard of the today's brands of Honda, Kwaski, Suzuki, Yamaha and so on. The only low power cheap brand available was the Rajdoot 175 cc. But the days of powerful horses limited with the coming of fuel efficient low power and fuel efficient bikes of today which became extremely popular with the motorcycle buyers. The increasing costs of petrol from day to day also made the modern fuel efficient bikes very popular. Even during the days when the Royal Enfield Bullet 350 was popular, it were the only power lover and affluent youth of that day who used to buy the vehicles just for its speed and power, otherwise the sales of this motorcycle were mostly limited to the armed forces and police services.
Announcement of Classic Chrome by Royal Enfield is an effort for a revival
Royal Field is once again in the field with the announcement of its
Classic Chrome 500
which the manufacturer Eicher Motors had released in the US and UK market a few months before and has not released it in the Indian market. It is surely going to make the Indian bike lovers of the bikes of high power to go gay and crazy with this announcement. Though as admitted by the CEO and the MD of the
Eicher Motors
during his interview with the NDTV profit that the bike may not capture the market immediately but the company is planning to make its presence felt in the Indian bike market within a period of four to five years. Presently, the
Royal Enfield
occupies only about 0.5% of the market shares for its bikes in India which the company plans to enhance with the introduction of its new models in the 750 cc and 1000 cc engine capacity bikes.
Likely features and price of Classic Chrome 500 from Royal Enfield
It is said that the new Classic Chrome 500 may not differ in many ways from its regular Classic EFI version as far as its mechanics are concerned. There are news that the Classic Chrome 500 will be a power packed bike with a non carbureted engine which will be able to produce a maximum power of 27.2 Bhp with a torque up to 41.3 Nm. There is an emphasis to make its looks beautiful with a mixture of silver and chrome colours. The Indian release of Classic Chrome 500 will also have a 19 inches wheel in the front. The silver colour is prominently given to its toolbox, tank and front fender. It is expected that Royal Enfield may keep up to its standards of the past which will do justice to its heritage and brand name. The Royal Enfield motorcycles are to compete well with
Harley Davidson
and
Ducati
already released in India. Even thought the price for a Classic Chrome is about Rs.1,58,200/- and its 750 cc and variant may cost between Rs.4 and Rs.7 lakh and the 1000 cc may carry even more price tag. But the bike lovers of power bikes will go for the looks and the power of the bikes and not the price tags.
