The new name has been already announced by the company this month. Efforts are in full swing at the company's plant at Chakan near Pune to launch the car very shortly. The launch will commence simultaneously in India and South Africa. It is only a matter of days now when the customers can enjoy the ride on this new vehicle from Mahindra. Rs.2500 crores have been invested by Mahindra and Mahindra in the first phase of the development of this vehicle and expansions plans are also formulated by the company.

There is a special significance to the name with double OH as announced by the company. It signifies the OOMPH, meaning vigour and energy that this vehicle would possess. Mahindra has utilized its research facilities at Chennai to develop XUV500 indigenously. The design has been modeled keeping the global market conditions in mind and conforms to the global demands and standards. A new platform has been used to develop is this new vehicle and company is planning to make its SUV vehicles operating from different platforms. Already the company's four SUV vehicles are built with different chassis. The company has kept in view the ensuing festive season for the launch of XUV500. Its launch in India and the international market has made the company to introduce a lot of safety features beginning with its base standard model. The Premium SUV XUV500 is likely to priced between Rs. 12 – 14 lakh in the Indian market. The Mahindra SUV XUV500 is expected to compare and compete well with Cheverolet Captiva, Ford Endeavour and Tata Aria.

The Mahindra XUV500 carries will have muscular frame with rocket like body and looks making it appealing to the eyes. It will have 2.2L diesel engine with displacement of 2200 cc. It is not known what exact specifications the Mahindra XUV500 will have unless released by the company but one can assume that once announced it will have all the standard features of the vehicle of this type. It is likely to capture the good share of the market in this category of vehicles.
