This article is a detailed review of the racing game Driver - San Francisco. Read on to know what this game launched by Ubisoft has in store for the players, whether this is worth to buy and will be able to compete with other games in the market is mentioned here.
Do you know how it feels having a dream and waking up in the morning feeling that the last night's dream was amazing and quite impossible in the real world around you and then getting a great urge to go back to the dream world ? Well that's exactly what Driver: San Francisco's like.
Beginning of Driver - San Francisco
The game begins with John Tanner going mad seeing his nemesis and old friend Charles Jericho as he's taken to prison. But, Jericho is one little lucky man as he's able to escape and in the process leaves Tanner in a coma. That's when the majority of the game starts with John Tanner lying on the hospital bed having the craziest dreams a man can imagine.
Ubisoft has come up with a brilliant idea of
operating the Driver - San Francisco game
through dream world. The game surpasses all of its competitive open-world racing games as it is not holded-back by the typical racing game mechanics. Due to this the game features more unique abilities, the most notable being Tanners' ability to shift from car to car. In the game Tanner can go into the body of any driver in the whole city and operate from within, which is as good as it sounds, as tanner does not require to step out of the car or even to be physically present to drive a car. For example, let us consider that tanner is following a car which is faster than his, than he can go into the driver of a truck that is coming from the front a few 100 yards in front of them and hit the car with all force. Also, when tanner leaves the car he becomes a ghost hovering way above the city which is also + point as it serves as a highly detailed map of the city.
Although the game promises to be one of its kind it still lacks in some stuff required to make an unforgettable gaming experience. Most notable among them is the handling of the cars. The cars are fast but their handling is not good and gets worse with increasing speed. Hence, this makes driving most of the cool cars almost impossible to drive. Another negative point of the game is that for being an open-world game it's too restricting. You would imagine that in the game you would be able to go anywhere from parks to parking lots to break a pursuit but that is not the case in-fact you can't even hit a pedestrian (supposedly the residents of San Francisco are too quick on their feet). There are not many places to lead the pursuit except dirty side roads, which also makes the point of placing collectibles quite useless.
Multiplayer gaming on Driver - San Francisco
The
Driver - San Francisco game features
a multiplayer mode known as survival mode in which you are required to escape the cops who have uncountable number of cars at their disposal. The result is that there are numerous accidents which you are required to escape from with the cops at your tail, not missing a single opportunity of ramming your car. The only consolidation is that you get a new car after every third checkpoint. The rest of the multiplayer modes are not so good. All in all the game might be a little childish still promises lots of fun.
