10 simple steps to- How to downgrade iOS in your Apple device from version 4.3.4 to 4.3.x

This article mentions the steps to downgrade, that is to revert back to the previous version of the latest Apple iOS. This trick is applicable for all Apple devices including iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, iPhone 3Gs and iPad 2. Read on to know how to downgrade your Apple device iOS version 4.3.4. to various previous version which are (iOS 4.3.3,4.3.2,4.3.1,4.3)



 

If you are thinking why in first place anyone will want to downgrade their iOS then the reason is to protect your Apple device and personal data from security vulnerabilities related to viewing of PDF which contain malicious softwares and also to protect your device from untethered jailbreaks for iOS.

Steps to Downgrade iOS 4.3.4 to iOS 4.3.3, 4.3.2, 4.3, 4.2 on iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPad 2, iPad & iPod Touch


  1. First of all download iOS 4.3.4 Firmware.
  2. Now download iTunes in order to install iOS 4.3.4 on your Apple device.
  3. Now install both the above files of new Firmware and iTunes in your computer.
  4. Enter your Apple device in DFU mode. (steps given below)
  5. Now while iTunes is connected to Apple server we will have to use a trick to change the server. For this navigate to C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\ and seach "hosts" file. Mac OS X users need to locate the "/etc/" directory by using the "Go –> Go to Folder" in the finder.
  6. Edit this file in Notepad (in Windows) or TextEdit (in Mac) and add "74.208.105.171 gs.apple.com" and just save it.
  7. Now open iTunes on your computer, on your keyboard keep the left "Shift" pressed down or the left "alt" (option) button in Mac and click on the "restore" button in iTunes and after that release the keyboard button.
  8. You will be prompted to select the iOS (4.3.3, 4.3.2, iOS 4.3.1, iOS 4.3, iOS 4.2.1 or below firmware file) you want. Select the version (this will be in ipsw format) you want and click on "open" t restore your Apple device.
  9. Sit back and relax as this restore will take some time (a few minutes at most) todowngrade to iOS 4.3.4 to 4.3.3, 4.3.2, 4.3.1, 4.3, 4.2.1 on your Apple iPhone 4, 3GS, iPad 2, iPad, iPod touch device.


Steps to enter your device in DFU mode


Connect your Apple device to your PC and then turn your Apple device off. Now start iTunes and hold both the power and Home buttons for 10 seconds and release the power button after that. Keep your Home button pressed until your computer recognizes your Apple device as a new USB device. iTunes too will now recognize the device.
