This article announces the likely entry of the English iconic motorcycle Triumph in the Indian bike market by 2012. It announces the Triumph Motorcycles UK’s plans to launch its bikes in the Indian market. Triumph plans to enter India by 2012


• Indian motor bike lovers may be enthralled with the news that the British Motorcycle manufacturing company Triumph Motorcycles will soon make its iconic motorbike to enter the ever growing two wheeler market at least by 2012. But the spirits of the buyers and motorcycles may dampen, the bike may be priced even more than a normal sedan car in India. Since the company is planning to first bring into India its triumph motorcycle as a completely built unit (CBU), it may cost very high after the customs duty is added to manufacturer's price.

• The Triumph manufacturer is making a survey of the Indian market conditions and the particular needs of the Indian bike users and will soon announce its line up and future plans for India. The company is not likely to enter into any joint venture at the outset and would bring in the completely built units into the Indian market. The Triumph manufacturer may use it assembly line in Thailand to enter into the Indian market in order to reduce its customs margin since India has a special trade relations with Thailand. So there may be a marginal reduction of the price of Triumph in the Indian market. Later the company may start its assembly unit in India depending on the sales figures of Triumph in India.

• While speaking to a news reporter in the last week of June, the CEO of the Triumph Motorcycles UK said, "India is a very important motorcycle market and Triumph has assessed it carefully before deciding to step in. We see it as the next step in our global business model.". It is also reported that the Triumph Motorcycles UK has announced the appointment of the former Royal Enfield, UK operations' head Mr Ashish Joshi, as the managing director of Triumph India.

• Triumph Motorcycles UK is a very old and reputed motorbikes manufacturing company which has made its name in the UK and several other countries of the world. It was established as far back in 1902 and since produced some iconic motorbikes like the 2.3 litre Rocket III, Speed Triple, Datona 675 super sport machine and the recently launched Tiger 800. After Triumph enters the Indian bike market, it would be the third foreign bike manufacturer to enter India after HD and the South Korean company Hyung Sang.

What motorcycles are likely to be launched in India by Triumph


• It is expected that the Triumph Motorcycles may initial enter into the Indian bike market with its ionic bikes including the latest and impressive 1050 cc, three cylinder Tiger and Sprint models. It may also bring in its other models like the timeless twin-cylinder 865 cc Bonneville, the massive 2294 cc Rocket III, the 675 cc Datona and the Speed Triple. Let us hope that the prices of the Triumph be kept within a reasonable limit for the Indian motorbike lovers.
