Sony Ericsson releasing Android Gingerbread update for Xperia X10 in Q2/Q3

Xperia X10 is receiving Android 2.3 Gingerbread update officially in Q2/Q3 this year officially, here is a list of new features that we can see in next Gingerbread update for X10. SE also confirmed that it would be the last update for Xperia X10.

Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system

Sony Ericsson has finally decided to listen up the users of Xperia X10 and now they are ready to release Android 2.3 update for Xperia X10. Many of customers were anticipating for SE (Sony Ericsson) to release Android Froyo update but as SE makes it official that it would release Android Gingerbread update for Xperia X10, all customers are quite excited to get it.

Sony Ericsson is releasing Android Gingerbread update for Xperia X10 in late Q2 or early Q3. Sony Ericsson in their blog announced earlier that it won't release anymore OS update for Xperia X10 but going on to the customers demand they finally has decided to provided Android 2.3 Gingerbread instead of Froyo, as of now Xperia X10 is running on Xperia X10.

What's new in Xperia X10 Gingerbread update?

Sony Ericsson haven't made any official announcement about the list of new features in Gingerbread update for Xperia X10 but so far we can guess via rumors are that SE will change camera UI of X10 to standard Android camera UI, other camera features like smile shutter and face recognition will be removed from X10 as it was camera features by Sony Ericsson. Other widgets like Mediascape may also be dropped. The official Sony Ericsson Backup and restore client may also be removed as it is not compatible with Gingerbread but we will any alternate solution for that.

Xperia X10 Gingerbread update

At the same time there is also a bad news that Sony Ericsson has hardly said 'NO' on release this update to other Xperia series phone, this update is specially meant for Xperia X10 looking at the huge demand.

New Gingerbread user interface will be most likely to Xperia Arc and Xperia Neo but few features like HDMI output will not be supported as X10 don't meet the minimum hardware support.

So wait for Q2/Q3 this year to get official Android Gingerbread update for Xperia X10, it is really a big update for X10 users. Apart from that SE has also confirmed that it would be last update for X10 in it's lifetime. It is little bit too late update but we are still satisfied via this action from Sony Ericsson.
