Rumors were abuzz about Nokia and Microsoft going for a partnership with Windows phone 7 OS in Nokia phones. How these rumors originated and from where, lets find out!
Now it is an open secret that Nokia, which is one of the biggest mobile handset manufacturers in the world is fast losing its place in the smartphone market. Even the features phones of the company are not making much place for themselves in emerging markets. Even after bringing in former
Microsoft executive Stephen Elop
, which has a major change the profits on the company are on a steady decline whereas companies like
Apple and Google
are making high profits in the booming mobile phone market.
After the transition of Elop there was a huge buzz that he might start the transition of Nokia from its
Symbian OS to Windows phone 7 OS
with an exclusive deal with Microsoft aimed at designing a OS specifically for Nokia mobiles on its
WP7 OS
. This buzz grew stronger when
an analyst of Hamburg's Berenberg Bank named Adnaan Ahmad
published an open letter in a States financial newspaper in which he urged Nokia to leave behind its Symbian OS and make a transition for
Windows phone 7 OS
and that too with a exclusive deal.
In the report he also suggested that for betterment of Nokia it should abandon
MeeGo, the OS being co-developed by Nokia and Intel
. He described it as the biggest joke in the tech industry. There was no reaction whatever either from Nokia or from Microsoft.
The shared opinion of experts in this case is that it would be a good move from both Nokia and Microsoft. Not only will Nokia do a get back in the mobile industry with a quality product but
Windows phone 7
which has still not got much acceptability and exposure from the industry will be able to showcase its full potential. Experts also noted the fact that such a move will be first of a king from Nokia who has historically preferred to control most part of its business just like Apple.
Nokia CEO Stephen Elop
has further added fuel to these news by commenting to analysts during January end that that they are planning to separate their strategies for low, mid and high end phones and also they are open now to "join to other ecosystems".
Both the companies have been struggling the mobile market, Nokia to get back a strong foothold and Microsoft to start getting a good place in the market. What will be the result of such a partnership is hard to fathom but this can be said that it has a huge potential and if both the companies to their homework rightly then this can be huge profit deal for both the giants.
