This article deals with various factors that to be considered when Buying a Laptop exclusively for Gaming purpose

Gaming Laptop Buying Guide

With the help of advanced technology gaming on a laptop or a notebook has become a common scenario, which was just a rare seen few years back. When looking for laptop which you want to give you an immense gaming experience always, you will have to consider some essential factors, for not to get your money a waist.

Well, there are many choices available in the market buyers will be getting confused which one to select. This article tries to look in to the various factors/components that should be considered while buying a gaming laptop.

I make it simple for you; just ask five questions yourself, that I am going to tell you.

OK start asking yourself

1. What size should it be?

This is not a brain teaser for diehard gamers, as they know teeny weeny screen won't do justice to their games. So get a wide screen of size 17" or more, experience and enjoy your game. But keep in mind that the larger the screen, the more you will pay. Also do remember that you can't move this heavy machine weighs as much as a brick off your table frequently. For 17" laptops you should get screen resolution of 1680 x 1050 or above.

2. What processor do I need?

To build a good gaming environment you need a powerful processor. Since I prefer INTEL processors over AMD processors, the battery eaters, we have two options here.

Intel core i5

They are powered with Intel turbo boost technology which enables it to boost the frequency of the processor without increasing the power automatically. Additionally integrated GPU, LGA 1156 socket, Intel HD graphics, Intel smart cache technology and Hyper-threading enabled, makes the processor apt for your gaming needs. Price varies from $176 -$200.

Intel core i7

The best processor ever manufactured, With L3 smart cache ranging from 8MB to as much as 12 MB, Intel Quick Path Interconnect technology, integrated GPU, Hyper-threading and Intel HD graphics make the processor suitable for high end gaming. If you can put more money, get this processor, enjoy high end gaming on your laptop, which was only a dream before the launch of i7 series.

3. Which graphics card should be on it?

Perhaps the most important criteria you should look for. I guess everyone who intends to buy a gaming laptop know what a graphic card is, right?

Low end graphics cards are better option as they consume less energy and you can play for a long time on it. But if you need a better a gaming experience, sure you got to go for high end graphics cards even it coast your battery life.

If you want to experience the latest 3D games as it offers you have only two options in selecting the brand of your video card/graphics card. ATI and Nvidia the world largest graphics cad manufactures. ATI has the Radeon Mobility range of cards, while Nvidia offers the GeForce Go series of cards for laptops. GeForce 9600M, GT 130M or ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4650 are good choices for graphics card of gaming laptops or notebooks. But these are not the latest or best.

But notebook graphics cards are not as good as the desktop cards, and they are bit expensive too. Along with the advanced technology, increased use of laptops, laptop graphics cards are grabbing more and more shares from the market.

The faster you want to play the more you have to pay, the more drop in your battery life. The reverse also holds true.

4. What should I care about Battery life?

Battery life plays a major role in determining the life of your laptop. Keep in mind that the more powerful gaming laptops are also the powerful drainers of your battery life. Choosing 9 cell batteries would be the best for you. But if you want to save your money by buying a 6 cell batteries please don't forget to buy a 90w AC adapter with it instead of 60w adapter, it will decrease charging time significantly. But there are many ways to extend your battery life as well.

5. What about RAM size And Hard disk?

About RAM size of a gaming laptop, go for a 4 GB RAM or above (just upgrade your RAM if your preferred model has less RAM size) even though your game may need less memory. Go for DDR3 RAMs as they are really fast and will give better gaming environment.

When coming into harddisk of a gaming laptop for 320 GB is enough, if you can put money go for higher size, you won't be playing 24 X 7, may use it for other purpose. 7200 rpm hard disks give better speed than 5400 rpm hard disks, but drain your money as well as the battery life. As SATA hard disks consume less power choosing them over PATA hard disks would be better.

Ever thought gaming laptops are the cheapest systems available in the market, they are really not. There is a huge gap in the pricing on these laptops. Price of a gaming laptop varies in the range 50,000 RS to 250,000 RS depending upon how you compromise on your gaming environment.

Do not buy the laptop unseen, you should need a bigger key board for better performance; check the screen, select glossy/matte screen- that's up to your taste and buy an external mouse, it will help.

That's all; hope you buy a good gaming laptop.

That was a very good article about buying a gaming article. If you are a die hard gamer you should choose i7 processor, minimum 4 GB RAM, minimum 1 GB graphics card which i suggest Radeon graphics.
If you want only gaming in the laptop , go for Alien weir laptop from dell. They are the best.
