HP is back! After a long break from making cameras, HP announced a new line of cameras and camcorders. The five new cameras and three camcorders, expected to be available this spring cost between 44000 and 85000. Though HP is not particularly known for its cameras, this new set has some impressive features and is competitively priced.
Premium cameras:
The more expensive cameras in the new line are equipped with touch screens that recognize intuitive gestures like swiping a finger to view the next photograph. They also let you zoom in and out of photos using touch. They also support up to 32 GB of external storage via SD/SDHC memory cards. These cameras are the CW450t and the PW460t.
The CW450t, priced at $109, has a 2.7 inch LCD touch screen and comes in blue and merlot. And the PW460t, which costs 120000, has a 3 inch touch screen and comes in pink and gray.
Premium camcorders:
The higher end camcorders, the V5061u and the V5560u, have 3 inch wide touch screens. They are capable of recording full HD video at 1080p and boast motion-detection features.
Additionally, the V5061u (picture below) has support for dual memory cards and an option to install AA batteries when the lithium-ion battery runs out of charge. It costs $169.
The V5560u, at 80000, is the most expensive gadget among HP's latest offerings. In addition to the features mentioned above, this camcorder has 5x optical zoom.
Other cameras:
More suited for on-the-go amateur photographers, the other point-and-shoot digital cameras are cheaper, slim and lightweight. These cameras have a 2.7 inch LCD display. The CW450 has 4X optical zoom, is available in black or red and is priced at $99. The SW450, priced at $129, also has 4X optical and comes in turquoise and red. The PW550z features 5X optical zoom and a wide-angle lens. It is available in black or plum and is priced at $149.
Other camcorder:
The V1020h, priced at 49000, is a cheap and lightweight digital pocket camcorder. It is capable of recording 720p HD and is powered by a rechargeable lithium-ion battery. The package also includes a USB connector.
