Difference between digital and optical zoom


 

Optical zoom
Optical zoom is what we call the real zoom.It is the zoom that is obtained while taking the photos.The image can be made closer while taking the photos.While using the digital zoom quality of the photo remains same .Full resolution of camera is used for this purpose.



Digital zoom
Digital zoom on the other hand is not the real form of a zooming.In digital zooming only a portion of the photo is made bigger or enlarged.It does not really bring the image closer.It can be performed only after the photos are taken.It works the same way as we zoom the image in computers.
